Hello! Thank you for purchasing a DIY Holiday themed tulle "tutu" wreath kit.
This is a fun and easy activity, perfect for beginners, no experience is needed.
In under 1 hour you will have your very own Holiday themed wreath.
If you purchased a glitter wreath kit please note you'll want to wear something that you don't mind getting glitter on and the work area. Glitter tulle is gorgeous but leaves a glittery mess on you and your space.
If you own a hot glue gun you may use that to adhere the decor if you choose to otherwise I've included glue dots in your kits. Note- children should be supervised by an adult if using a hot glue gun. The glue gets very hot and may burn you. A low temp one is recommended as well as protective finger tip guards (found at Dollar Tree & craft stores). Glue dots are found in craft stores, and will stick to your fingers so be careful removing them, but they are safe for all to use.
Now that you're ready to make it following are the step by step instructions.
Be sure to also check out my video.
Take out all the items from the wreath kit. You will find a round wreath form (I've covered it with cotton fabric to protect the form from breaking if it gets dropped and to help the tulle material stay put), pieces of tulle (these have been measured and cut to speed up the process for you since it's the not fun part), and a small plastic zip bag. If you have the Grinch kit you will also have a green felt Grinch face. You may choose to use it or flip to other side and write Merry Grinchmas instead. The plastic zip bag has some twine or ribbon, glue dots, assorted decor. You may use all, some or none of them. The choice is yours. Glue dots are attached to the backside of the sticker sheet. The stickers are just for fun. The tulle is bundled together.
Tulle is a soft sheer material that sticks to itself. You have been provided with extra tulle as well but you need to separate the pieces. Otherwise you may end up short because you didn't realize several pieces were stuck together.
Let's begin! Sit in a chair. I prefer to hold the wreath form between my knees making it easier to tie on the tulle. Take one piece of tulle at a time and tie it onto the wreath form. I tie it on twice. You don't want to tie the tulle on too tight or too loose. You want the tulle to stay in one direction and be able to push it over if needed. If you have a two or three color tulle wreath you may choose the pattern. Tying on one of each color or two of each color, etc. The choice is yours. Continue tying on the tulle until the wreath form is covered. Note- be sure to check after 10 pieces or so have been tied that the inside of the wreath (circle) doesn't show the white fabric. You want to see just the tulle color. You'll notice that the outer part of the circle/wreath where you tied the tulle has some gaps. That's normal and you will not notice that when it's complete. Also, you want the tulle in the inner circle to be touching, slightly overlapping but not all bunched over each other. Tying tulle should take 30 minutes.
Fluff the tulle, make sure all the pieces are straight. You may notice that some ends of the tulle are longer than others. This is when you take a pair of scissors and give your wreath a haircut.
Now the hanger, you may choose to use the twine or ribbon I've provided. You may choose to cut it to make it smaller or keep the length. You may choose to make a bow with the other ribbon. Feel free to use all, some or none of the decorative items that I've provided. You may choose to use your own supplies. Tie on your hanger.
It's time to decorate your wreath (if you choose to) using decor and the glue dots or hot glue gun if you own one (see my warning above regarding the glue gun). Carefully remove the glue dot from the backing and press it on the item you want to add to the wreath. Some decorative items may need more than 1 glue dot. If you have the Grinch themed wreath you will be adding the green felt face to the wreath form and the red glittery heart. Have fun! Be creative!
Congratulations!! You now have your very own Holiday themed tulle "tutu" wreath to proudly display in your home or give as a gift. If you'd like to take a picture of your finished wreath you can post it on my Facebook page (Afonsoway). I'd love to see your finished wreath! Happy Holidays!
